Landfill
There must be a place for broken dreams—
A landfill of harrowed hearts, cried-out eyes.
A place of forsaken hopes, senseless scenes
That evolves with each generation's rise.
There must be a place for broken dreams—
For vows revoked, loves lost, trusts betrayed.
It serves well when life strains at the seams,
And the margins of our emotions are frayed.
There must be a place for broken dreams—
Where wished-for wealth is beyond the pale.
When "perfect" plans are empty schemes,
We need a place of refuge in which to dwell.
There must be a place for broken dreams—
For shredding garments of grief, hurt, pain.
Thus granting ourselves relief that redeems
The self-struck need to take all the blame.
