Lab Rat

A Lab Rat
Rapt in a Cage of Steel
Wandering whether the Cat
                Can otherwise feel

I feel Pain
I feel It Scalding off the Sides
Converting Agony in rains
In which a hush of unheard cries

Trying durable
            To flee from a box
Of No Return, & Fresh Starts
                   But…
                                                                             	Clogged by the locks

Maybe: the Mouse
                     Can unchain the door
Or dwell out,
                   Doodles on the floor:

“Na-na, nana, Na
You’re Always ever so Grey
I’m munching A Bananna
Watch you Melt Away”

& The Mice
              Dash to Where they Secrete
Now, They ponder twice
               Of a Rat’s Might
