James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

Known As I Am Known

I don’t see myself as others see me
Even the mirror doesn’t reflect my beauty
I hate mirrors because they tell lies
Well, there may be one I don’t despise
One that my face can get used-tah
Not one that makes me look like Medusa
One that sells me a good hair day
One says I got a shot and it’ll “make my day”
One that makes me look like a hunk
It better, or Clint Eastwood will ask, “Well, do you punk?”
I don't want one that makes me look circus weird
(My psychologist said I am finally cured)
One that shows me skin so smooth
One that greets the Fonz, no need to groom
One that gets me on my way
But I don’t want the mirror of Dorian Gray
And while time may have elapsed on this side
I want a mirror that depicts me inside
One that shows blue eyes
Not the red-eyed disguise
And not the one that makes me look older
When my heart says otherwise
