Knowing Without Knowing

Zenda was in a patchwork gown when they dumped her into the desert.
A princess can find her home, her mother told her. Her father was mum.
She understood the task at hand, to stay alive and to get home somehow.
This was a kingdom which used drums and flutes for communication.

Zenda gathered flowers and sang pretty songs. She was not alarmed.
She knew her father would send men to rescue her if he had to.
She was a daddy’s girl, and happy about it.
A large tortoise with flowers on his back came by to say hello.

He looked familiar, yet, she knew him not on a conscious level.
He was in fact her guardian angel, here to keep her safe.
She instinctively knew this, without knowing how she knew.
Knowing without knowing, another way they communicate in her kingdom.
