Sadly based on real event which happened earlier this year to a guy we know. I understand he is slowly making a recovery but his life will never be the same again.

"Water taken in moderation cannot hurt anybody" Mark Twain too much alcohol ends up in a drunken brawl one man falls to floor it was just one punch wasn't meant to knock him out ambulance is called he's on life support life will never be the same severe brain damage

Overdrinking has never appealed to me, and I'd never want to wake up most mornings with a bad hangover! A glass of wine once in a while will do me fine :) Hope this guy you mention will recover, eventually, Jan. Hugs // paul

I’m afraid it’s never gonna improve while judges are being told not to lock people up. It’s a tragic event, for sure, and you depict it well, Jan. Hope your ‘acquaintance’ continues to improve. Terry

the perpetrator is currently in prison but no idea of the sentence he will get for the attack on Dave but hes also up for importing drugs. just glad he's off the streets for now:-( hugs Jan xx

So tragic, Jan. We do need to be aware of our choices and intentional about the way we live our lives. Know that your friend is in, and will remain in, my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for this heart wrenching poem. Your friend has a good friend in you. Blessings and hugs.

I’ve read about this kind of thing before Jan, sometimes the fall does more damage than the actual punch, some people become so violent when drinking, a sad fact of life you point out here, cheers David

yes from what I've read he hit his head and fractured his skull he was flown to the Uk where he remained for many months:-( hugs Jan xx

Sad one, but as my husband always says, if he had been at home living a decent life it would not have happened. Thanks for sharing and I hope he makes a recovery to give him a chance at living a sober life. Sara K

I don't think our friend was drunk he was trying to protect a young lady. I understand the lad who hit him is currently in prison await trial for this offence and for importing drugs:-( hugs jan xx
