Kindness
If I could only teach my child one thing,
it would be this – just be kind.
Before a word is uttered, ask yourself,
will my words hurt or wound?
Too many souls are left bleeding
from words stabbing, causing pain.
Too many thoughtless actions etch scars,
some of which always remain.
Kindness has no monetary value,
it requires but thought and time.
Our cold world needs more than ever
for people to be kind.
If we gave others the compassion
that we ourselves expect,
the world would be a kinder place,
people bestowed with respect.
