Kibbutz
I leave my family home on Homleigh Road.
It has been a happy house full of fun and laughter
My backpack is heavy but I’m happy to carry the load.
My stomach churns as I look forward to my big adventure.
Girls just wanna have fun ring in my ears.
I wait for the bus to take me to the train station.
My family wave me off with delight and cheers.
I am at the airport nervous and excited.
What waits for me at the other end who knows.
We touch down in Israel oh what a blast.
All I hear are loud voices and bellows.
The heat is scorching I feel my face burning.
I’m not worried as this is going to be overwhelming.
I am here all grown up waving goodbye to my childish yearnings.
