Kentucky Mountain Morning
As the morning sun breaks the mountain crest,
It's bright new rays light up the West,
It melts away the morning dew,
And greets us all with hopes renewed.
As early birds sing their morning praises,
They remind me of the promise Easter raises,
That the dark night returns to day,
And our Lord will return the same way.
The sweet song of the morning Lark,
And the squirrel's pitter patter bark,
The Whip-poor-will sings his soulful song,
Hoping that the Lord won't tarry long.
