Keeping Vigil

I watched her closely last night
As I pulled up my chair close to where she lay
Covered her with the king sized bedding
Kissed her weary brow

I knew that once again I was losing her
Apparent in her animal like stare
I had noticed only an hour before

The indications creep up slowly,
Almost like a creature seeking its prey
Denial does not combat this enemy within
Knowledge is the most powerful thing

Feed the demon pills
Via her beautiful mouth
Then wait silently, for sleep to come
And hope that when she awakes
A part of her awakens also

Good write, but it kind of saddens me, but then again it seems she has someone who loves her intensely and is watching over her.
