Keeping Perspective
I think of all the things I have
and all the things I lack.
It's true I'm mostly looking forward,
but I'm also looking back!
Things are all much clearer now
with so much time between.
I have a better outlook,
after all that I have seen.
I try to shape all my tomorrows
from my mistakes of yesterday.
I hope to profit from my errors
for which I had to pay!
All my trials and tribulations,
have taught me oh so well,
that I couldn't pick my self back up
unless at first, I fell!
It's great to be ambitious,
but wishful thinking has it's place.
Remember Aesop's Fable?
Who was it, won the race?
Life's highway seems much straighter now,
I seem to be on solid track.
My main concern is future goals,
but I still keep looking back!
