Notes About The Poem

After looking it up, I borrowed this word, kakorrhaphiophobia, from Viv and one of his contests.  Thank you Viv!  It means, an abnormal fear of failure.

Kakorrhaphiophobia

Knowing me as only I could
and knowing this disjointed year that has been so wasted.
Kicking myself at every turn,
over and over again, so many mistakes I've made with
raw emotions bleeding every moment of every day.
Reaching for the happiness that I know is out there,
how I long for peace inside of me,
all the while knowing that it will never come.
Praying for release from this insane fear that forever
holds me in its selfish, controlling grasp,
I can't do this anymore!
Only tomorrow's promise keeps me going,
preparing me to meet the challenge of my next disappointment.
Having failed at all I've done my hope yet lingers.
Offering my soul as payment for each dark hour I bare
but knowing the light comes sparingly, asking a toll for each ray,
I know I must fail so I hesitate to begin,
and the cycle continues as the world turns.
