Just...Pretend

Just...Pretend
by Cate Rock

Close your eyes...
Just pretend,
Let your mind wander,
Let this process began,

Close your eyes,
Look away...
Don't let it hurt you.
Make him go far away...
and away is where he will stay...

Dream those dreams...
Reach for the skis,
Let the hope wash over,
Avoid those ever watchful eyes.

Close those windows.
Lock that door...
Don't let him in...
Forget about his lure.

Chain yourself to that wall,
Don't look back,
Don't get ready...
Cause he has no advantage.
No scary move or attack.

Just cause your dying,
Dying all alone inside...
Just cause your hurting...
Hurt you can not hide.

Dressed in red...
On his funeral day.
Dressed for the dead,
Our mom would say.

He was suppose to be here...
Just him and you.
He was suppose to give you away.
Now what ever shall you do?

Daddy died when we were three.
Mom wouldn't be the same,
It was him who was to hand me off.
It was him all along to end this horrific game...

But now without dad...
Or him or anyone.
Here on my day...
All alone...I prayed

Dying inside...
Heart break i can not hide.
Down the isle i go...
Not a groom up for show...

For it is a tunnel, not in a chapel,
But in my darkening abbess...
Goodbye my brother,
This final last kiss.
