Just Stating the Obvious Poetry Contest
How fast our childhood goes.
It starts out like a tiny stream,
then like a river flows.
This river which is life
will carry us perhaps to college.
Most become a husband or a wife.
Once married, we want more!
We work and save so we can have
the things that we adore.
Such different things folk dream of, yet
so many things the same
are what most people get!
A house with a fence, perhaps a tree
in our front yard, and then
kids come. We are a family.
Running, running, life goes on
with twists and turns.
One day we see it’s almost gone.
Just stating the obvious am I.
We race through life like rivers,
and then we die.
