Just Stating the Obvious Poetry Contest
The north wind’s speeds
Will burn you cold,
They’ll numb your hands and feet.
It barks and bites,
It hits and screams,
But we must still survive.
My world will shake
And flood and freeze,
But make you no mistake,
I won’t yet cease.
It’s not my time.
I don’t need that release.
The sky is plum,
It’s finally dawn
The sun is coming up.
Encased in awe,
I see what’s sprung;
The spring has come along.
The moon still shines
When daylight comes,
It doesn’t go to hide. . .
So I won’t run,
I will keep on.
Just like everything does.
