Just Over the Hill

And then I seen it, whilst looking down from a high
A peaceful uniform land, where residents don’t cry
Equal to all, perhaps finely embellished with love
Diagonal lines appear, as I descend from above

People stand about randomly, in a mysterious world
As this endless field of monoliths, now slowly unfurls
Only place where nobody, yet everybody gets along
It’s not utopia, but could well be, when we’re gone

David, your poetry is quite well-crafted. In the living world, such a location is virtually impossible to identify. You used the graveyard's pattern and equality to depict such a sad but figuratively meaningful setting.

Thank you Lasaad, I’m afraid for the vast majority of people around the world, the only place that will come close to a utopia, with equality and unity is indeed their resting place in the cemetery, a sad reflection on mankind, cheers David

Who knows where we will be heading, and if it is a utopian situation perhaps we have found an intense feeling of love which will spread around, and we will want to stay because we might as well if we are in the only place where people do get on - Let the others go who cant get on with each other. Hope this comment makes sense! Love and hugs, Jennifer

Heya Jennifer, your comment makes perfect sense, alas such a place is difficult or impossible to find whilst in the living world, so I used the imagery of the graveyards symmetry and equality to portray such a place, I know that sounds quiet dark, but it’s just metaphoric, thank you so much for stopping by, cheers David

Thank you Deb, that’s exactly what I was trying to achieve, somewhere peaceful, between life and death, no better place than the approach from the hill down to the cemetery when I go to visit loved ones graves, cheers David
