Just One Fish

He’s a small fish
Cute and orange
Fast and furious
Strong and smart
He’s just one fish

I cast out my line
Send out the bait
Offer my worm
Lure him in
He’s just one fish

He checks me out
Takes a small nibble
Thinks me over
But doesn’t bite
But he’s just one fish

I reel in my line
Un-bait my hook
Throw away the worn worm
And think
“He’s only one fish”

Why does this bother me?
There’s plenty of other fish in the sea
 My water is flowing forever
I mean
He’s just one fish

But he’s a small fish
Cute and orange
Fast and furious
Strong and smart
But he’s only one fish

So I move on
Keep him in the back of my mind
Don’t pull him on the boat
But I have to keep reminding myself
That he’s just on fish
