Just One

have you ever tried to be
something you're not
ever want something so badly
it could not be forgot
ever believe so hard
that a wish could come true
and most unusually
come true for you
have you ever believed that
you could reach for that star
just above your head
not very far
and told yourself
time and time again
this time I'll win
this time I'll win
that was the way
I felt about you

it really seemed
like my dream
had come true
i tried to be loved
by feelings from you
and what would never be true
i wished so hard for you
i believed in something
and you were that star
forever inside my head
but never in your heart
and i tell myself
time and time again
that hope leads to failure
and to love is to sin

have i not an immortal beloved
that belongs to my soul
must i search forever
while my body grows old
am i cursed forever to believe
that she must be out there
somewhere amongst all the stars
my heaven knows not where
could it be because of God
that she has not been chosen
and the family line till end of time
forever to be frozen
but i must admit
i would be quite content
with just someone in my arms
to have and to hold
and maybe grow old
the two and not just one

its a phenomenon how dreams can come true if you think about it as if you already have it in your life. ~Always&Forever Lynette

This is so beautifully written and also heartbreaking, John. I hope this is not a reflection of problems you are encountering in your new relationship. You do deserve to be happy. Sometimes we just have to keep trying and trying. Believe me, my friend, I can relate to your words. I just want to see you happy. Love, Carolyn
