Just Look At Me

Take a good look at me,
I am not confused about who or what I should be.
But you have tried to rob me of my innocence and spirit too,
And today is just a reminder of the pain and hurt that you have put me through.

Look into my eyes and see the pain that I try to hide behind each tear,
You should have been the one, who made me feel safe and free,
I wish I could crawl into the earth and disappear,
For when I look into the mirror I see a stranger looking back at me.

Are you afraid to look at me because you know you are guilty?
I have traded in my dolls and pony tails to embrace my reality.
How could I remain a child when I will never be free?
I beg you, look at me! Look at me for you have made me who I am –a bitter child
And I will never, ever again be me.
