Just Left

I have never seen so many
Of my family in one place
Our little house is so full
That there’s very little space

My brothers and my sisters
Aunts and Uncles, cousins too
Friends I knew from years ago
I can’t believe this is true

Their lips are busy moving
But I don’t hear a noise
Seems this room of people
Have all lost their voice

They’re filling up their glasses
While smiling all the time
As someone in the kitchen
Opens another bottle of wine

I try to join festivities
To grab a piece of cake
This feat too beyond me
These people are at my Wake
