Just Friends But Let's Dance

Please may I have this slow waltz, he shyly asked.
She watched his comely face, his elegant stance.
She blushed, she felt elated, accepted fast,
And hoped that this meeting was not just one chance.

They danced around the room, a three step slow dance.
Yet he did not hold her tight and close to him.
Still she felt the music and swirled in a trance,
The love in her eyes filled with tears to the brim.

This waltz would be great and could last for ever.
Oh how she wished to feel him closer to her,
That they would never end dancing, oh never.
He held aloof, like a cat he sensed her purr.

The dance soon ended. It's tango next, she said.
Sorry, the tango's special, I can't agree.
Her poor heart fluttered and eager love just bled.
“We'll always be friends,” but she’ll wait for him.

A dance is a dance but a romance is something closer...and so to her chagrin they’re just friends, but perhaps she knew that all along.

Oh well, a sad ending to an amazing love story, he never felt the same as she right from the beginning..

Well, that's life. Your tale of disappointed love on the dance floor, was beautifully and imaginatively told. It's a Fave. :)

How sad Victor, she danced in his arms but not in his heart. A lovely sentimental read... Belle

Hi Victor, It's so sad when a person is deeply in love with someone and they keep you in the ” friend zone.” I really liked how you told this story. Well done. Have a great day my friend:-) Alexis

So tragic when love is only one sided. Tom

It happens--sometimes the attraction is one sided. I see the dance and feel her disappointment in your splendid imagery, Victor.
