Just Distraction

Upon a rock I made my bed
Not seeking to be comforted,
If so I'd have a quilt of down
And a feather pillow for a crown.

But no, I want it bare and stark
I want to wear the boulders mark,
To feel a different kind of pain
Distraction for my mind again.

No solace comes with passing time
Just confusion in my mind,
Life can bring such bitter sorrow
As it will again tomorrow.

Passing years bring scant relief
So heavy on my shoulders, grief.
Thus has brought me to this action
No easing it, just distraction.

Glad to see your competent first write, Gary. Perfectly metered. Pain told with whimsy. Will be looking up your work, as it's clear to see your skill.

A deeply emotive first post Gary... This was not really a contest, it was an opportunity to showcase your first poem and I am glad you entered. Thank you.
