Just Beyond the City Walls
Just Beyond the City Walls
Just beyond the city walls
on a hill called Calvary
A cross was raised
In the early morn
for all the world to see
The nails were hammered
the crown was placed
the spear had left its mark
a final cry was uttered and
all the world grew dark
Just beyond the city walls
as the sun began to set
the cross was lowered
his body battered
he had paid our debt
His body wrapped in linen
a cloth placed upon his face
The mourners prayed
their final prayers
the stone was set in place
Just beyond the city walls
The faithful came to pray
they found the tomb was empty
the stone was rolled away
In his resurrection is
Christ’s promise to mankind
Whoever would believe in him
Salvation they will find
