Just Another Normal Night
Afraid to meet his steely glare
The stench of alcohol fills the air
Same old scenario, same old fight
Just another normal night
Seeing stars, fists are flying
Make it stop, I hope I’m dying
A punch in the back as I make for the door
A kick to the stomach as I lay on the floor
Lie down, play dead, and end the curse
Only seemed to make things worse
A thump to the head more to follow
Sure he’ll regret it come tomorrow
Waking sober, full of grief?
I still live, so maybe relief
To see though bruised I am fine
A promise never again, well until next time
He’ll be home again real soon
Been out drinking since before noon
Same old scenario, same old fight
Please, please not another normal night
