Just Another Crack
My heart burns like firewood
with memories of my childhood
filled with all that I conceived
life was going to be.
There it goes
the clouded haze recalling now knows
what little wisdom I had in its calling
before my fated falling.
The random twists and turns
with which the hidden fires burned
life and love and purpose
joy and sadness as life hurts us.
We give, we take,
we hesitate
we stop, we pause, we conclude
it's all attitude.
Looking back and looking forward
cautiously we eye what we're moving toward
pondering the writing on the wall of this that
realizing at last, it was just another crack.
