Just a Touch of Spring Fever

I decided to become an eccentric
Appear a little bit off
Maybe a little ill
With a little bit of a cough
Keep a little distant
A little bit alone
Sort of like a hermit
Disconnect the phone
Do just what I want
Just what I like
Do a little drawing
Take a little hike
Sleep in the garden
Frolic with the bees
Wade in the brook
Maybe talk to the trees
When the alarm for work I hear
I know as an eccentric I have failed
If I do not pay my bills
I could be sued and jailed
That's a little more eccentric
Than I want to be
I dream of being eccentric
But it's off to work for me

"I dream of being eccentric" I think a little part of everyone feels that way sometimes; just to shrug off everything that's expected of us, and start marching to whatever cadence our drum is beating on that day.
