Juneteenth
Juneteenth
Juneteenth let's go down history
For years it was a mystery
Slavery had parted
Let's find out where it started
June 19,1865
Slavery had no longer been deprived
We had been freed
From picking cotton
Being forgotten
Whipped by many
Not only physical
But mentally
Told us all we couldn't be
Two years went by
That we already were free tried to keep it a secret how hard could it be
Not that hard
You see we played our cards
And it was captured
No longer owned by the masters
As you see
We were among the land of living and we were free
Or were we?
January 1,1863
President Lincoln formally issued the Emancipation Proclamation
Yet they kept that from the nation
But it was ok
But we all knew we would be great one day
Years and years of so much hurt
Color mattered we got treated like dirt
Our Ancestors raised all of many
And still plenty
Got took
They labeled us as ignorant
Couldn't read
Hey throw us a book
And we grab it
You'd be surprised what come out of our mouth magic ?
Another thing I learned and I'm sure you did too
The official Juneteenth flag was red ,white , and blue .
The same as the American Flag
But were we really America
That's what's sad
So with all we had I mean we changed it a little to red black and green ??????
Red represented the blood that was shed
Black represented the soil that had been planted deep down in the root
Green represented prosperity
In a unprosperous world
Together those colors would help heal one another
Your sister , your brother
What did we get when we became free
40 Acres and a mule ? Wasn't that what is was suppose to be ?
June 17 ,2021 made another piece of history
Juneteenth is finally the eleventh federal holiday
Since King day Designated In 1983 .
Now that's history
To our ancestors let's take a moment
To give thanks
You didn't give up when they said you could
You all represented
And it hurts
That you didn't get to see your worth your value
But I saw it
And I found out that you only wanted to be heard
With your words
So many days you walked miles and miles with no water
Nothing on your feet
Yet you didn't weep even when the hill got steep you climbed and climbed until you reached the top.
You all left a legacy
And we clearly forgot
And I apologize
We need to keep each other
Alive
Love on them , look out protect
Never neglect
For you all know how that felt
Not a good feeling
This land need so much healing
They need God put back in everything
See how much positivity it brings
Help bring back our kings and queens
That we once were
Lots are blinded by so much
Like it's ok to be sensitive and have a heart
It's ok to not let color tear you apart
Regardless of how we were treated
We never were defeated
We became apart of the freedom ring
That why our voices are our choices
Use your worlds wisely
Don't sit in silence
God gave you a voice
Don't use it for violence
We are one
One are all
Together we uplift
Or together we may fall
Celebration
Today so many brilliant minds
Have so much to display
Show it to the world
You all are unique In so many ways
Today we celebrate ending so many things
Segregation came later we didn't hold on
We righted our rights and wronged our wrongs
And our father is pleased on the throne
Pat yourself on the back
For you did that
Update the books ??
And put this in
That we too did win
Don't keep letting us be robbed of knowledge
It's crazy they left alot of this out in college
We are just now learning about us
Why ?
Sometimes the truth hurts it makes you cry
I celebrate as a queen
No longer caring what others think
To all Happy of the Happiest Juneteenth
