July

Desert dry
Summer shy
Cloudless sky
Fanning palms are waving hi

Green is golden, shade is sly
Cool one moment, slips on by
Wind is wispy, like a sigh
As it brushes butterflies

Have you ever seen a kite so high?
On this peaceful patch of grass I lie
Wishing, whisper, wonder why
As I watch my thoughts drift by

These clouds of many shapes I spy
Filling up my blank blue sky
Like tears welling in my eyes
As summer palm trees wave goodbye.
