Joy When E'Er I See

How great is my joy when e’er I see There by her grave in the cemetery The bloom upon the red, red rose, At the place of her earthly repose. Telling me her spirit lives, and well, Where someday I, too, shall dwell Lying beside her here in paradise, Bringing such joy I cannot surmise Joy filling my heart; flooding my eyes Bodies decay, but our soul never dies How great is my joy when e’er I see There by her grave in the cemetery The bloom upon the red, red rose, At the place of her earthly repose.

Sadness is overwhelmingly portrayed in your lines, Milt. Worthy of more than fifth place. ;(

Truth needs to be reiterated over and over again, lest we believe falsehood's inundations. Thanks, Chris.

"Bodies decay, but our soul never dies" - we must realize that this is the part many people somehow miss, and it is the all important part!

Another heartfelt piece wonderfully written Milton. We wish someday to join those that we love, who have left before us...

That is so true, Michael. After thirty-five years of happily married life, it's very difficult to be alone.

The beautiful lines of your couplet reflect your greatest joy~the love of your life who lives deep within your heart. I especially love your opening and ending lines “the bloom upon the red, red rose, at the place of her earthly repose. Good luck in the contest…..looks like a winner to me. :)Paulette

Thank you so very much, Paulette. Well, I suppose I'll have to wait and see what the sponsor thinks.
