Joy in the Morning

He has changed – this illness has wrecked his life While I don’t know just how he feels, I am his wife And I can see the devastation of cancer’s pen Writing sorrow over my heart, over and over again He has changed – the story is one we all know While I can’t explain it, the fear I feel must show And the tears come soft, against a heart who fears With anxiety, yearning, praying cancer’s fog clears He has changed – oh, Jesus please heal his brain While I’m living on this earth, I’ll try to ease his pain And I know, without a doubt, our love will ever be A part of our soul’s story – a joy that’s living in me He has changed – there are times when I can’t say Just how much I love this man for whom I pray And the light sometimes goes dim in the eyes I love But I know my Jesus sees us from heaven above He has changed – but our Jesus is still the same Pouring out His grace on those for whom He came And I know, even when my mind is not so sure Jesus will provide, a promise hope will endure He has changed – but there is one thing that remains In my heart I know, Jesus can even heal our brains And I know that cancer might be a painful diagnosis But the doctors can’t really prove the final prognosis He has changed – but our faith tells us to believe There is assurance that our Jesus will never leave And I know, even though my spirit cries out With Jesus, we’ll make it through without a doubt He has changed – but God knows I love him more He has my heart and I think he’s more precious than before And I know, when this cancer turns and he is healed There will be a joy inside us that can’t possibly be concealed

Aww Regina, cancer is such a scourge on so many lives either directly or directly. So sorry your husband has been stricken with this cruel disease but never give up hope and I know your faith is strong. I started writing when my husband was actually in cancer surgery in 2013 and despite the fact it keeps coming back, I am so lucky that it hasn't changed him but it has changed our lives for the better as you appreciate every day. hugs Jan xx

Morris' is brain cancer, which is why he's changed. If it was some other kind it wouldn't have effected his personality as much. He gets confused sometimes and isn't able to find his words as much. He's my sweetheart though and I'm praying and seeking God that he will get well.
