Jolt

It’s not the act of sacrifice
That inspires me to fear
It’s not the compromise
Or the narrow path
It’s the act of praising a god
Who travels through time by
Word of mouth
Depending on those
Stubborn hosts
Who never stray or stop
If you crucify the unknown
You may leave marks on your own soul
Leave it burning because you are afraid
Fear of no faith is better
But fear is not faith
And you will burn with your crosses
Once the world makes its last rickety
Jolt
And comes to an explosive halt
What he did for you may cease to matter
But not to Him
It’s the only thing that will still matter
To Him

An interesting and enjoyable piece; loved the concept of your poem; "jolt" was an appropriate title; some would argue that "fear" is the opposite of "faith". Recently I came across this quote from Abraham Israel: "Faith frees while fear binds." -Joe Breunig Reaching Towards His Unbounded Glory
