Thanks for the heads up about the Diamate contest. I'll give it a try. The title of my poem, Senator Foghorn, was borrowed from the Looney Tunes character of the same name. You gotta be an old codger to know that though. I like the 'Jocks to Geeks' evolution of your diamante and the rhyming... ~Jim

ETHN-ologist. unlike jh, I'm niether geeky or would anyone say I'm a jock. I can barely hunt and peck my way around on this keyboard with a dictionary in my lap. /cr

Your Title's Subject Is What I found so intriguing initially that I was summarily compelled to 'click' and see what you had to say on the two factions. I was then after reading your note on how you had looked up what the style of this poem mandated from its author even more drawn to your fun poetic marraige of polar opposites. Very clever wording Andrea; I enjoyed that you personified these two subjects within the boundry of a Diamante framed piece with the whimsy of an etologist. CHEERS! /cr

Good poem. I can relate because I've been blessed with the best of both worlds. - JH

Yes, you've revisited your youth. When the cliches existed without couth. It's nice when we age and we get to turn the page. Great job!

I was chuckling at "computing- disputing" lines as I am constantly around these kind of nerdy nerds...they are the best fun ever. Curious what sparked this topic, Andrea? Very youthful and energetic piece! Hope the weekend has given u some down time. Gwendolen

How awesome that your were able to write with rhyme in this form, Andrea. Love the poem, especially the transition line that made me smile. Best wishes in Dane Ann's contest! Love, carolyn

Andrea-This looks like a fun form! :) Excellent job you did pairing the two of these. I have to admit I ONLY dated the jocks back in HS-but wish I had dated the nerds 'cuz I'd be rich now I guess :) One guy I dated in college did end up playing for the Bills. I shouldn't have dumped him I guess :) BTW...you and I have to be right about Rick's contest-I can't imagine it's the other way.

Now you're talking about these dipstick sports announcers. Things like - "Johnny, the Tigers are behind 49 to 0. They need to score some touchdowns." I mean, like, duh! Good form, good write. I want to try it. Love, daver

Perfect example of my High School, except we also had Freaks added to the list. I was a cross between Geeks and Freaks!! Not so much a freak as I was a geek, however I did fit in with any crowd, I wasn't popular then but I was not excluded from any group! I had a pretty good High School experience!! Oh, your poem explained the Jocks and Geeks quite well! I rather enjoyed reading your write!! Spectacular work!!
