Jesus' Precious Hand
Most of the time I stumbled I was lost and in a daze,
Walking around complaining, nothing made me happy, me and my childish ways.
Bitterness and anger had taken control of me,
I doubt I even knew there was a way to be set free.
I didn’t really enjoy the thing I had become,
I guess that explains the drinking it made my feelings numb.
If I could hurt someone’s feelings I guess that made my day,
And I got pretty darn good at it is what I’m trying to say.
It was amazing how that booze would make my backbone grow,
And turn right around and hurt the ones that truly loved me so.
What is now quite amazing is I had the audacity to think I was totally right,
And how I would get angry when I couldn’t start a fight.
Down deep inside of me hidden for so long,
Something started chewing, just a feeling I was living life all wrong.
This feeling was prayers that were being answered from above,
The hand of God had touched my life and filled my heart with love.
I’m still a work in progress, but I now know the way to go,
And each day I try to get a little closer to Heaven don’t you know?
And if for some reason I don’t make it, I wont be bitter, but I will understand,
I should’ve held on tighter to Jesus’ precious hand.
