Jeanne

Well I wouldn't want nobody'

to be standing in my shoes

Good Lord I love a woman

with a love that's bound to lose

Ya know she makes me feel so good

Oh she makes me feel so fine

There's just one little problem though

This woman isn't mine

Lord I think it ain't her fault

and I hope it's not mine

But good Lord either way it goes

it'll happen sometime

something bound to happen sometime.

on a dead end road

Sometimes I wonder if it's love

that makes us take the chances that we do

Sometimes I pray "Good Lord above

won't ya make her say she's through."

but when she goes on down with me

Oh I tell ya it's the living end

I throw my clothes on the floor

I kick the dog out the door

I throw my guilty conscience to the wind

Lord I pray it ain't her fault

and I hope it ain't mine

but Good Lord either way it goes

It'll happen sometime

somethings bound to happen sometime

on a dead end road

Oh I can't help but worry some

when she's lying in my bed

When the old man come busting through the door

and put a bullet in my head

I know my common sense and values

more than a little out of place

I tell myself when that day comes

I'm gonna die with a smile on my face

Lord I pray it ain't her fault

and I hope it mine

but Good Lord, either way it goes

it'll happen sometime'

somethings bound to happen sometime

on a dead end road
