January the Sixth, 2021
To many today 'Epiphany'
is just a word like 'Tiffany.'
I may have heard it once in church.
Does memory leave me in the lurch?
No need to wait, no need to fret!
Today we have the Internet
Ah, this points me to a date,
six days on from New Year's gate.
January recalls a Roman god;
in a way that's rather odd,
for 'epiphany' means 'disclosure,'
to great truth the heart's exposure,
recalling still a two-fold feast
honoring the Three Kings from the east
but also the story of Baptist John
naming Jesus as God's Son.
What if the date has power to tell
what awaits US, heaven or hell?
