Jake Has Nowhere To Go
Jake Has Nowhere To Go
By Elton Camp
When he was a bouncing baby boy
Jake was his parents’ pride and joy
Childhood was what it should be
Playful, happy and of worry free
He followed advice to stay in school
To avoid a life disappointing and cruel
Employment came as a matter of course
His life promised to be free of remorse
Marriage and children came along too
Jake’s fondest dreams all came true
How it all changed, he hardly knew
With happiness, Jake was through
His lifelong employer shut down
At his age, no job was to be found
His resentful wife abandoned Jake too
With him, his children were through
Homelessly living on the street
Jake was forced to accept defeat
He trudged into a dark downpour
And sadly never seen anymore
