Jackets of Ice

Everything is covered with ice today
Freezing rain has come our way
Nature’s growth wearing jackets, but cold
Flooding on the way, I am told
Jumping raindrops land in puddles on the ground
Brittle branches are hanging all around
Thoughts so fragile stir in the mind
Seeking warmth and dreams to find

Those ice storms are hard to get through; downed electric lines, no heat; still there's an air of fairyland when trees are wearing their ice jackets. Well penned.

Snow is fun but ice is another story, though you do make it sound beautiful in your poem Heidi. I can just imagine the branches of the barren trees with ice on them, I'll bet it is gorgeous.

Yes, ice like this becomes a problem, but yes, it is also pretty. Thank you Chris :)

How beautiful those "jackets of ice" look on trees, Heidi. You describe the winter wonderland scene so well! Best wishes for the holidays, Carolyn
