Izzie-The Cat

Izzie was and is now no more. She roams happily on another shore, chasing dreams which flitter quickly through as the firefly lights the darkened evening amid children ignoring the dew . Lovable, she was stern with her babies, the one litter she gave. Never a claw mark on my skin. Never excited except when she played a make believe game of chase with us, of which she could claim to clearly be the winner, time and again, from her perch high in a tree where she zoomed at full speed. Yes, she was Izzie, Mama cat, haughty indeed. She stole my heart right away, a nature of that breed. She gave us five kittens----three went the way of cats. She died soon after, now two is where we’re at. I’m sure that when they are gone we will feel the same as now. We’ll remember their antics and love and somehow- - feel their presence. © Charles Henderson 08.17.12
