It's Not Safe Here Anymore
We close and lock the windows.
We use dead-bolts on doors.
We sleep with one eye open.
It's not safe here anymore.
What kind of world has this become
when you have to live in fear?
You have to keep your curtains shut
and they cannot be too sheer.
You smile at the nice young man
who looks like you or me.
But he's not going to tell you
he's on the sex-offenders registry.
You can't go out alone now.
You must always have your phone.
Don't ever let them sense your fear
or hear it in your tone.
We close and lock the windows.
We use dead-bolts on doors.
We sleep with one eye open.
It's not safe here anymore.
