Its My Fault

I was there for you through
thick and thin
Opened my arms up
to welcome you in
As if I could feel when
you was down and out
Dropped everything for
you without a doubt

Then to be played by you
without any thought
When you led me to believe
 it was love you sought
As time went by yes it's
my fault I fell for you
Strung myself along thinking
that you was true

But you see boy this right
here is high class
Not down in the sewers
like your Donatello ass
Let me stop see everyone
knows that I'm not mean
The same woman I've always
told you i've been

In life we all have a
certain responsibility
Didn't think you playing me
was a possibility
As time went by yes it was
my fault I fell for you
Strung myself along thinking
that you was true

I'm the only one who
should be feeling shame
When it was all done and
said I have myself to blame
In the future I hope someone
hears when your soul cries
Like I did so long ago not
realizing it was only lies

Cruelest thing you did is
awaken my love inside
When your intention of
loving me was denied
To you I was a chapter and
to me you was a book
Guess you was never mine
still my heart you took

Shattered and broken is the
loudest quiet sound
I promise you'll look for me
in others but never be found
I was never one of those
damn demons you fight
You didn't look inside of me
to see gods divine light

Yes as time went by it was
my fault I fell for you
And it was I who strung
myself along thinking you true
Still pieces of my heart broken
has love for you so pure
Softly I cry wondering how
much more pain I can endure

Must of missed this one, Poetess. Wayne Kingston knows the bobby: "There's a rapper out there who wants to make this a hit single!!! Don't let him down, Queen." :) Spot on, Wayne!! The "Queen" of rap indeed! :) john

It’s sad when people we care for betray us. This is well expressed, so sorry you are dealing with this. Hugs Rick.

Keep beauty slamming those fool beasts, Fem Warrior you!! I really LOVE this poem, Bre. Your poems breathe passion, your ink sultry burns. You melt hearts w/your intense ink. This poem reminds me of Phyllis Hyman's sizzling song, "It's Not About You." Powerful heart truth medicine this poem be, dear friend. Love and best wishes for the holiday.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJ0Ed3Zlg7E
