It's Hard Being Girl

It would have been easier if I was a boy,
Atleast I wouldn't have to pretend to be coy.
So I don't have to question myself,
Would it be safe? Or will anyone help?

Someone staring with eyes full of lust,
And it is completely unjust.
To put the girl on blame,
While that someone has no shame.

Is this the only purpose of my life,
To be a good mother and an obedient wife.
These four walls is all I knew,
I want some freedom for me too.

Very true of a situation in India. you seem to have tugged on the very sentiments and feelings of every young girl. well written and enjoyed the read. the last two lines hammer out the inevitable truth.
