It’s Easy and Hard to Love
It is easy to love
when your love loves you,
when your flesh
is young
and your dreams are new.
It is hard to love
when your Love loves naught:
when love is flawed,
but dreams are not.
But hardest is love
when love is lost,
and your flesh
is wickedly old;
and only memories will survive
the lies that you were told.
