It's All Okay

As the rich man smiles and eats his steak, As the underage prostitute is raped, As oil bleeds into the water supply, As starving third-world children die, We pretend that it’s all okay. As one senseless war gives way to another, As bombs destroy brown fathers and mothers, As we trade one corrupt politician for another, As the cage around us begins to smother, We pretend that it’s all okay. When the hand of the doomsday clock hits midnight, And the human race stumbles into its twilight, And nuclear winter blots out the sunlight, And oceans swallow the last urban high-rise, We’ll pretend that it’s all okay.
