It Was Only Then We Each Woke Hell Up and Then Knew

It Was Only Then We Each Woke Hell Up And Then Knew A rose gave its fine fragrance and beauty for free Smell that drove ones beautiful girlfriend to exclaim My darling, these are ravishing and just for me And to think I thought this, it was you to be tame. She in that pale blue dress and that dolled up hair With her famous smile and with figure so damn fine My pals cried, "you get pretty ones, life aint fair" All good ole Southern boys except Paul from the East O' yes James, real bad apple ready to deceive This world was a jewel ready for the taking We were the dirty rascals hellbent on grabbing With the gas petal on the floor no damn braking But we each later got our own damn heart stabbing. For truth is we had finally each got our due. It was only then we each woke hell up and then knew. Robert J. Lindley, AUGUST 5TH 1975.. Rhyme Note- today, well yes I had very wild youth for about 12 years.

This composition, Robert, is truly remarkable. It is adorned with an abundance of vivid imagery and thought-provoking reflections on the formative years of childhood, all while displaying a commendable display of wit and cleverness.

Thank you, my good friend. Yes, my youth was quite the wild ride. There was loads of fun but some sorrow pitched in too. One has to pay to play, pay the piper. I escaped the worst of it but caught enough in 12 years to learn my lesson. God bless..

Robert - this reminds me of one of my favorite chapters of the Bible, Proverbs 7. In particular verse 23; “Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.” Out of all my tests, these have been the toughest.

Thank you, my good friend. Life is precious. Often far more precious than we realize until it is a bit too late. Especially so in our youth when we think we have so very much time. God bless..
