It Was a Dark and Stormy Night

A flash lit up the sky, As thunder grumbled by the rain, My heart lay gripped with pain, My mind going insane this way, Hot and cold air at play, While dreamings drift and sway around, The wayward thoughts abound, Where love dared not be found instead, The dreams came in my head And in this storm to bed I’ll go, For wonderings I know Allow not love to grow within, For fear that would be sin, Yet thunder, my chagrin, still roars As lightning kissed rain pours Cleansing the muddied floors of why!
