It Seems So Very Sad

When I was younger,
I used to watch the older
Couples in awe.
Silence was all that was
spoken between them.
I thought it to be so sad.
My heart went out to them,
because it seemed as though
they had nothing left to say.
And I used to wonder why;
Even after so many years,
How could there ever be
nothing that you could possibly
speak to one another.
Perhaps words of love,
Which are often not spoken enough.
Now I look at us,
It seems so very sad.
Silence is all that is
spoken between us;
Words of love is something...
We seldom have.

Kelli, hello! This will be my first comment since.. my thanksgiving day.. wow! What a blast it ended being... About your poem: its a sad thought to think and wonder love is as wasted as yesterdays words... one day we have much to say.. the next just slips away with so much silence.. but, you know what... looks should say it all.. SO lets make the best out of everything ,, and communicate better... enjoyed this poem... p.d.
