Notes About The Poem

I am always courteous when I drive, as everyone should be. But there are so many that won't succomb to letting someone in ahead of them. The answer to road rage, I assume. Drive safe and try to as courteous as possible. A lot less accidents and lives to be saved..Thanks for reading.!  BTW, this did actually happen to me, I thought that was very cool of him.

It Pays To Be Courteous

As I was driving along the Garden State Parkway
Radio on, thinking kind thoughts
I came upon a toll booth
A long line of vehicles was ahead of me
An old man tried to merge in
Drivers refused him
I waved him ahead of me
I acknowledged his peace sign
And paid him back with a thumbs up
He paid his dollar fifty toll and moved on
My turn to pay
The collector waved me through
The old man paid my toll

I love the simplicity of your poem. Karma is indeed found in the simplest of acts and if you recognize it there you will consider it in the larger aspects of daily life. Congrats on your win, Charles, with this gem.

Nice...I always ask for blessings when I drive...it's the one thing that has connected me to God more than any other... a road is a dangerous place to be...full of attitudes of who's better than who...

Yours words couldn't be more true, as I have lost my father of 83 yrs to a car accident and lost my eldest brother to a motor cycle accident. Full of attitudes.....God bless..
