It Is Zaffre

Her dress was magnificent; it showed off her skin And the green of her eyes. It went well with her lipstick. He tried his best to talk her out of it. I never liked phthalo, he said. But she laughed. Periwinkle? He guessed. She laughed again. Persian blue? Twinge-let, her parrot said. They both laughed. You are not talking me out of it, she told him. I feel sexy and happy, and you will love all the attention it will give you. His boss and his boss’s boss could not keep their eyes off of her. He did not like it at all! It is zaffre, she told him afterwards. I will wear it often and whenever I like. If you want me you will have to get used to it. Zaffre must be a magical color, he thought, but he got used to it because he loved her.

I LOVE this! Another FAV... It reminds me of my husband, too, although he initially encouraged me to wear brighter colors when we first married (as I was fashion-lazy and wore TONS of black). Later on, however- I think I became too flamboyant for his comfort zone!! ;D hahahaha I looked up zaffre and was surprised to see one of my FAVORITE shades to wear (that he admires, but thinks is a bit bold)! Perfectly penned, Soul Sister!! ;)

I LOVE THIS. "He tried his best to talk her out of it"...the dress? the lipstick? ah, probably both and I love the whole conversational theme. Zaffre, hmmm might have to use that, I'll be accused of course of not being original. Kind of sensual, kind of hot this poem. But I could be in heat. hmmm, maybe hot flushes. x

Thank you Lady Labyrinth. Glad you liked it. I had never heard of Zaffre, but I looked it up. it is a pretty dark perwinkle blue.
