It Is Spring

There’s a very nice ring To the words, “It is spring!” When the sun is ablaze in the sky. Oh, the joy it can bring Hearing birds tweet and sing As the hikers and strollers pass by. By the river I sit And I have to admit It’s much nicer than being inside. I’ll go home in a bit But before I must split I’ll absorb all the view can provide. For in front of my eyes Folks of varying size Share my penchant for seeking fresh air, Though it’s not a surprise That with masks as disguise All have New York aloofness to spare.

The masks do make people seem more robotic and aloof. "Folks of varying size Share my penchant for seeking fresh air," I love seeing them out there though. This poem is jazzy Ilene.

Today was beautiful here in South Texas also, Ilene, and I greatly enjoyed being out in the air for a while. Your poem was an added bonus and a mood enhancer and I was buoyed up by it after these weeks of repression lately. Many thanks.

Well said, Ilene, but was it pure coincidence your poem follows Jan's? Aloha! Rico

This is such a cute piece Ilene. Filled with the feeling of release that Spring brings to all of us and yet we still have the leash of the mask to restrict us. Really cute "gotcha" in the last three lines. Love it. God Bless, JB
