- It Is Not Easy - Try It Yourself -

Not easy to speak or write a foreign language
How many languages do you speak or write
There are many that comes to your country
who do not know the language ..... it is difficult
I spoke with a "foreigner" today .... nice guy
He worked on the garbage car
A very well paid job in Norway
The box of garbage must be wheeled down to the port
I'd forget ... ran after the car with my box
              Smiling and cheerful, he said:
           * Norwegian: "Do glemte sitte ut do " ?
                                              - ((Do you forget to put the box out ?))
           * Translated: "You forgot to sit on the toilet " (?)

 - A smile from reality :)))

If you are understanding this comment, you may speak a lil (that's little) Texan lol. I speak Spanish and write fairly well, but had aspirations of learning one of those surrounding languages, found that German and Dutch were so similar, but the third language is the hardest to decide on. Great work on the poem by they way. I think I forgot the reason for comments, as I often do.

I really enjoyed this! I wish my grandparents were still here, they were from Finland, different language, but they would have appreciated the poem! They wanted my mother to name me Anna-Lisa. Small world isn't it! Thanks again. Diane

Funny poem wonderfully done. Enjoyed the difference of languages here. Sometimes heart and mind speak something but words are not similar to that due to lack of proper expression. Loved always, my friend, bl

Great poem. Very humorous. Sometimes I find myself unable to retrieve the word I want in English, I couldn't imagine trying to get it right in a different language.

;))))))))))) This is a very beautiful and entertaining poem of yours to read my very dear friend Anne Lise. I can relate 100 percent here for trying myself hard to speak Thai Lang. When a school guard asked me in thai, so you're going out to enjoy with friends? I replied in thai w/c amazed him when translated: Yes, because there is no school tomorrow. :)) So, he'll be losing his job;))) A great poem this is my dearest Anne. Thank u ever so much for sharing! Have a blessed day! love lots,Leonora

A very alive piece... I'm smack dab in the middle of the US... So only hear other languages in school... They say everyone in Europe speaks another language or several... amazing... My cousin learned 5 languages and is a lawyer, interpeter, in the military... We're all in awe of her abilities... I learned a touch of spanish, but it won't hold up to a conversation with accents and any speed... or depth.

It is a funny story, of course, but his learning of a given foreign language is almost always better than our knowledge of his language! Personally I master four languages and have studied another four among them Danish and Chinese. Learning a language is the passport for entering into the culture and the heart of the people of that country! It shows respect for his new country and appreciation for the opportunity! I know for an immigrant I was and thanks to wonderful Canada I became who I am!
