It Has Been So Long
We were meant to be set free
Why are we living in captivity
We were meant to be strong
It's been so long…. it's been so long
Life has its ups and downs
Pain it has a sound
Open up your eyes
To all those lies, all those lies
They feaster in your mind
Constantly on rewind
Taking up your time
Dulling out your shine
We were meant to be set free
So why are we living in captivity
We were meant to be strong
It's been so long…it's been so long
Echoes of childhood stories
The days of hopeful glory
Before the indoctrination of hate and fear
When our eyes saw things crystal clear
We had Open arms to all we knew
But as time grew
Our views did too
Was it all for nothing or can we find ourselves again
In a world where we magnify a life of pretend
We were meant to be set free
So why are we living in captivity
We were meant to be strong
It's been so long…it's been so long
Isolation behind our screens
Nothing is ever as it seems
Pictures painted to impress
A world of sorrow that's well dressed
Fragrances once sweet, they've turned quite sour
Many are falling away in this hour
Can we put our differences aside
And swallow pride, please swallow pride.
We were meant to be set free
So why are we living in captivity
We were meant to be strong
It's been so long…it's been so long
